“… Climate Realist and against anything that is Left wing, Liberal, Labour, Democrat or Labor….”
says it all, doesn’t it ?
..
What a load of self-delusional twaddle.
If you’d like a broader clue about global warming, just take a look at either the northeast or northwest passages. For centuries iced solid and non-navigable all year round, dozens if not hundreds of earnest marniers lost their lives trying. Until the later 1990s… when a private explorer found to his own amazement that he could get through the northwest passage all the way to Alaska.
Now, both are free enough of ice enough of the year annually that companies are beginning to use both as commercial shipping channels. The first two commercial freighter loads passed through the northeast passage, all the way from the Sea of Japan across to the North Sea, last year.
If you don’t think that’s significant melting, then you probably still won’t even when your trouser bottoms are getting wet.
Dream on, deluded Tory
The repeated lie that the first commercial shipping passed through just last year is idiocy. The Russians have run commercial shipping there for 150 years. Derrrrr
The Russians, by traveling near the coast, have been sailing the Northeast Passage for a century. They opened it to international shipping in 1991, after the breakup of the Soviet Union. But only recently have companies begun to find the route profitable, as the receding polar ice cap has opened paths farther offshore — allowing larger, modern ships with deeper drafts to make the trip, trimming days off the voyage and saving fuel.
In 2009, the first two international commercial cargo vessels traveled north of Russia between Europe and Asia.

Depends upon your point of view, we are poles apart on this.
It is a nice change to have a civilised debate about agw, thankyou for that
I think your information is a bit out of date regarding the amiunt of Arctic sea ice.

I hope you find the link useful
People who claim glaciers are melting, forget, the difference between land glaciers and sea ice.
Sea ice regularly breaks away but reforms. Now that we can stop all these CO2 alarmists you have to remember billions have been paid around the world for proof of AGW. Also now they are on the back foot
they will have egg on their faces again maybe someone will dare to charge them with fraud and ask for the monies back for perpetrating fraudulent reports.
I do feel sorry for people who still, through their ignorance of science, believe all this nonsense about
AGW. But there is worse around the corner, a new ice age or mini ice age that will make a few more
.C increases look insignificant. You are not telling me all these so called scientists haven’t forgotten that we are an ice planet and enjoying and I mean enjoying a glacial interstadial, and the Northern Hemisphere will be the worst effected should one start to happen. You can’t change the climate or the weather so stop trying to find ways and expensive ways to attempt it. Better put the money on sustainability measures. Like erect greenhouses when the snow comes.
Love to see this creation of God …
I think everything posted was very logical. But, think about this, suppose you typed a catchier title?
I mean, I don’t want to tell you how to run your website, but what if you added a title that makes people want more? I mean About Those Glaciers, What They Are Not Shrinking? | Tory Aardvark is a little boring. You could glance at Yahoo’s home page and watch how they create news headlines to get people interested.
You might add a related video or a related pic or two to grab readers interested about what you’ve got to say. Just my opinion, it could make your posts a little livelier.
OMG
I love the way you selectively edit stuff to suit
Some glaciers in the Himalayas mountain range have gained a small amount of mass between 1999 and 2008, new research shows, bucking the global trend of glacial decline.
The research at France’s University of Grenoble estimates that the Karakoram glaciers have gained around 0.11 to 0.22 metres (0.36 feet to 0.72 feet) per year between 1999 and 2008.
“Their conclusion is that Karakoram glaciers had a small mass gain at the beginning of the 21st century indicates that those central/eastern glaciers are not representative of the whole (Himalayas),” the experts at the university said.
The study appears to confirm earlier research that had suggested the Karakoram glaciers have not followed the global trend of glacial decline over the past three decades. The mountain range’s remoteness had made it hard to confirm its behavior.
The Karakoram glaciers (the ones you are on about )are also unusual because they are covered with thick layers of rock debris, which means their patterns of melting and mass gain are driven by changes in that debris as well as in the climate.
Harrison also said much of their mass gain also comes from avalanches from the high mountains surrounding them,
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data showed a dramatic rise in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels in 2012. Pieter Tans, who heads NOAA’s greenhouse gas measurement group, told AP that “The prospects of keeping climate change below” 2°C (3.6°F) by 2100, as world leaders agreed to do, “are fading away.” He added that the carbon jump is “just a testament to human influence being dominant.”
The link between CO2 and warming is firmly grounded in well known chemistry and physics. We know that, as we add greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, additional heat will be retained in the atmosphere. The increase since pre-industrial times is currently 2.8 Watt m-2 averaged over the entire Earth, 1.8 of which is due to CO2 alone.
The earth does two things with the extra heat. The majority is radiated to space in parts of the spectrum where the greenhouse gases do not absorb, and the rest goes into heating the oceans. More heat is radiated to space as the earth and atmosphere become warmer. The warming of the earth surface and the atmosphere is slowed down by the oceans. The latter take decades and longer to catch up with the new radiation balance. Eventually, if greenhouse gases stop increasing, a new steady state will be established with, on average, warmer oceans, warmer land surfaces and a warmer atmosphere. That is unavoidable and well understood. The questions that climate scientists are working to answer are about feedbacks that could either greatly amplify the warming from greenhouse gases, or dampen the effect. Unfortunately amplification appears stronger overall than damping.
So
i would suggest you take a science course instead of relying on facts you obviously don`t have a clear understanding about
Tony, glaciers increase when the sea is warmer. Where they are, temp is far below zero C on average – therefore, freezing the water is not a problem. Therefore: it entirely depends on the amount of raw material, to replenish itself for the melted deficit.
b] glaciers can evaporate without turning into a liquid water – which means: are moist winds blowing to that location; or dry winds from some desert :http://globalwarmingdenier.wordpress.com/midi-ice-age-can-be-avoided/
