Riots In Egypt – Caused Solely By Climate Change

Appaently Climate Change not Hosi Mubarak was the cause of the riots

Aardvark had a bet with another blogger than before the week was out, someone, somewhere would blame the unrest in Egypt on Anthropogenic Global Warming, a bet that will now pay out.

The ecomentalists at Climate Progress are linking food prices to extreme weather and an increase in the price of oil, as the cause of the riots.

Of course it’s nothing to do with years of repressive and brutal government

Global warming, or the more politically-correct ‘climate change’, is now being blamed for the riots taking place in Egypt, according to a report at Climate Progress.

Using the scare line, “Food prices were driven up by extreme weather and high oil prices,” Joe Romm links food prices in Egypt to global warming.

Quoting an NPR story, Climate Progress notes that part of the reason for the chaos in Egypt is rising food prices:

Many of the people protesting are also angry about dramatic price hikes for basic foodstuffs, such as rice, cereals, cooking oil and sugar.

Naturally, all because of “climate change.”

This summer’s extreme global weather raised fears of a “Coming Food Crisis,” as CAP’s John D. Podesta and Jake Caldwell warned in Foreign Policy: “Global food security is stretched to the breaking point, and Russia’s fires and Pakistan’s floods are making a bad situation worse.” Earlier this month I discussed how, in fact, “Extreme weather events helped drive food prices to record highs.” Back then, experts were worried about food riots. Now they are happening.

Of course, none of it has to do with the policies of the Egyptian government or the push by the radical Islamic group Muslim Brotherhood.

Human emissions (i.e., breathing), combined with rising oil prices and extreme weather get blamed for the political chaos in Egypt. Why not? After all, liberals seem to connect everything else to global warming. H/T Climate Depot

  1. I think they are calling it climate challenge now. I guess that fits with the riots and all.

  2. Why don’t you deniers just admit that you are wrong. Did you know that it’s hot in Egypt? See? There! Proof!

  3. Well, let’s think about it for a second.

Mubarak has been dictator of Egypt for 30 years. Why NOW? What changed over the last year or so that made the Egyptians suddenly decide now was the time for him to go?

    • Hey Karmakazi! :) Just because it is happening right now does not mean that there has been a big change. Some times things build up slowly. Volcanoes just sit there, slowly building up pressure until one day the pressure becomes too great and BANG! In this case, I think we have had two things building up. First, resentment against the government as more and more people find that they and their famalies have been directly affected by the corruption. Secondly, information — due to the growth in digital information exchange — has built up until the average person realizes that what he sees on the mainstream media is a lie.

  4. All the ‘climate change’ or ‘AGW’ believers, should be stood up, in front of a firing squad, and shot, as they are extremely mentally deficient…

  5. I do not believe in human caused global warming, but I do believe high food prices and food shortages are a major cause of the rioting in Egypt. Many are not rioting for radical Islam or democracy, but for food. Forty percent of USA corn and grains from around the world are used to make government mandated ethanol and bio fuels. This decreases the supply of grain and drives up prices. The increased price of bread and rice annoys us in the USA, but is a major crisis is poor countries where food is around 50% of the monthly household budget.

    • Good point Rod. So it appears that Global Warming Policy is the culprit. Food shortages are caused by irrational responses to climate changes using state interventions into otherwise free markets. More to follow.

Wait for this unrest to move West chaps. What with sharks at sharm el sheik… Holidays will be dirt cheap soon. HURRAH

  7. riotfortruth

This is a big lie. Just try to look who is behind all these. You’ll see the same faces…
Since when democracy and freedom are related to wars and riots? Not far away just look for past 15 years… and see what happened
