COP17 A Win For Big Oil
The Durban Climate Synod is over and for the third year in a row nothing has been achieved other than bucket loads of CO2 have been emitted, ironically by those that most fear an inert trace gas and there is some sort of vague agreement to meet next year, and achieve nothing, again.
There was one winner in Durban, those dirty words Big Oil when the United Arab Emirates pulled an absolute blinder on the Green eco sheep who will sign anything, without question:
Partied-out ‘climate delegates’ don’t seem to know much about what they sign us all up to but the United Arab Emirates scored a win in Durban. They managed to get the EU, Australia and New Zealand (the only dills currently dopey enough to stick their citizens with “carbon trading”) to pay significant subsidy for enhanced oil recovery. That isn’t how it was expressed, of course, it was written up as ‘Carbon Capture and Sequestration’ or ‘CCS’ but the effect is the same – payments ostensibly to reduce carbon dioxide emissions subsidize extraction of more high-carbon fuels that will emit yet more carbon dioxide when burned. Isn’t this a fun game?
At last years cocaine and hooker fest, sometimes called COP16, Cancun the ecosheep flocked in droves to sign a petition to ban dihydrogen monoxide, which incidentally is water.
Like they say dumb can be cured, stupid is for ever.
