The Arctic 30 Green Cashcows For Greenpeace, Scapegoats For The Russians

Try as they might the combined forces of Greenpeace and The Guardian just cannot motivate the civil society they claim to represent to be outraged and indignant, in the Liberal Green way they should be, because 30 self appointed guardians of the Arctic are in assorted Russian prisons.
The lack of support in the now 4 current articles in the Guardian Environment section shows how out of touch Greenpeace are with public opinion here in the west, as well as in Russia.
An opinion poll in Russia on the actions of the Russian authorities gives 66% support for the way the Greenpeace employees were dealt with, though 17% thought the charges were too harsh and 8% deplored them as too lenient. There is a very big message that all the Green NGO’s would be well advised to hear loud and clear in this poll from the Russian people:
Two in three respondents said the government should curb any attempt of foreign-based environmental organizations to stop Russia from developing the Arctic basin.
In a completely empty gesture that he knows no sane politician would ever accept Greenpeace International executive director Kumi Naidoo has written an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin:
Their fate is a matter of global concern. Therefore, I would come to you with an offer. I am willing to move my life to Russia for the duration of this affair. I would offer myself as a guarantor for the good conduct of the Greenpeace activists, were they to be released on bail. They, we, Greenpeace, do not believe ourselves to be above the law. We are willing to face the consequences of what we did, as long as those consequences are within a nation’s criminal code as any reasonable person understands that code to be.
Their fate is matter of global concern to every other self appointed Green activist trying to force their vision of a hair shirt Agrarian society on the world.
As for reasonable, it really means nothing in legal terms as obviously one man’s reasonable behaviour is another man’s unreasonable behaviour, one man’s terrorist another man’s freedom fighter as Naidoo well knows.
My own personal history as a young activist in the anti-apartheid movement has taught me that dialogue is paramount, that in the interests of finding a common understanding we must be willing to talk. I believe that my offer to come to Moscow, to meet you, and to stay there, affords us such an opportunity. This continued affair benefits nobody, including the great nation of Russia, and certainly not the families and friends of the people in prison.
The crackdown on self appointed Green activists benefits just about everybody on the planet, for too long the self appointed guardians of Gaia have run amok trying to force their agenda on the world using the standard socialist tactic of implicit support rather explicit support. This way the silent majority can be claimed by a vocal fringe minority to be in total agreement with them, because unless you directly speak out against them, you are by default, for them.
Seems that not even Guardianistas buy Naidoo’s empty gesture:
Courage of their leader?
He writes a letter which he knows cannot possibly result in him being exchanged for people on criminal charges.
The Russians are none too keen to let the prisoners of conscience out on bail:
A court in the Russian city of Murmansk has rejected bail appeals for two Greenpeace activists and a freelance photographer, keeping them confined in jail ahead of piracy trials.
The three are among 30 people of 18 different nationalities, including six from Britain, who have been charged with “piracy as part of an organised group” after being apprehended on board the Greenpeace ship, the Arctic Sunrise. Bail requests for the other 27 are expected to be heard this week.
That will be a further 27 requests denied for bail then.
Perhaps some Green reminiscing about halcyon days gone by when Greens could disrupt what they wanted, when they wanted with impunity will get some support.
Time to wheel out a former Greenpeace activist:
Approaching the vast oil rig in our tiny inflatable was one of the most intimidating moments of my life. On reaching it we were immediately pulled underneath the rig by currents swirling around the platform and it is only through the skill of the boat driver, Tanya, that we weren’t all drowned. When we finally got the climbers on to the rig they were met by a hail of spanners and other metal objects thrown by urinating rig workers.
Surely the mental graphic that generates of Greenpeace sheep in a hail of SnapOn and urine would provoke some sort of support?
You GP jerks were always a danger, especially to yourselves.
That will be a No then.
Make no mistake it is open season on Greens and warmists in Mother Russia right now, piracy is really just the start of their problems:
Russian investigators have raised the stakes in their battle with Greenpeace, claiming illegal drugs have been found aboard the organisation’s ship, the Arctic Sunrise.
They also said a number of Greenpeace activists had put the lives of Russian coastguards at risk with their actions, and announced that new charges are in preparation against some of the 30 people currently in detention.
What is interesting from the last part of the statement is that the Russians are grading the Greens as to how much of a problem they pose, all Greens are guilty, some are just more guilty than others, or something like that.
It will be interesting to see what else Russian investigators find on the Arctic Sunrise in the coming days.
It is entirely possible that both Shergar and Jimmy Hoffer could well be found on the Greenpeace ship.
