Greenwalling – Prominent Warmists Block Climate Skeptics On Twitter

Because the debate is over, attempting to follow the EU's unelected Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard.

Because the debate is over, attempting to follow the EU’s unelected Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard.

In politics it is called Stonewalling, which the dictionary defines as “Delay or block (a request, process, or person) by refusing to answer questions or by giving evasive replies, esp. in politics.“, yesterday I noticed a Tweet from Steve Milloy at the JunkScience blog saying that the Michael E Mann of Hockey Stick and vicarious Nobel Prize fame had blocked JunkScience on Twitter.

A while ago the EU’s unelected Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard Tweets dropped off my timeline and surprise, surprise, attempts to follow Comrade Connie are now blocked at the users request.

A similar thing happened with Climate Scientist Michael E Mann: Read the rest of this entry

Greens Admit Climate Policies Will Take Decades To Show Any Benefits

Estimating the potential effects of Climate Policies is much the same as guessing how many lives would be saved in accidents that did not happen

Estimating the potential effects of Climate Policies is much the same as guessing how many lives would be saved in accidents that did not happen

A group of leading warming alarmists has admitted that the Climate Change policies that the UN and environmentalists are trying so hard to impose on the world, would take decades, if not longer to show any benefits.

A group of researchers from the usual suspects including, The Tyndall Centre, the University of East Anglia, The Potsdam Institute and the Walker Institute have concluded that tough measures swiftly imposed on global emissions could reduce the impacts of climate change by between 20% – 60%, though there would be no obvious impact until at least 2030 or even much later, like in 90 years from now.

Another great piece of attempted future proofing for the Green boondoggle, if the climate changes one way then the Greens were correct all along, if it goes the other way then the Green measures were not enacted swiftly enough to have prevented disastrous climate change.

Then of course, it would help if they actually knew what constitutes dangerous climate change: Read the rest of this entry

2013 Will Be The Worst Year For Warmists Since Records Began

The only international agreement on being terrified of CO2, the Kyoto Protocol finshed at the end of 2012.

The only international agreement on being terrified of CO2, the Kyoto Protocol finished at the end of 2012. With no chance of a new Kyoto Treaty being signed up to by the major emitters 2012 ended with another nail hammered into the Green coffin.

2012 was an unprecedented year of disaster and defeat for the Greens and warming alarmists, it was a year that on the face of it offered much hope to the watermelons, in June there was going to be  the Rio+20 Earth Summit, COP18 in Doha was going to build on the progress of COP17 and the Durban Platform and the European Union was going to single-handedly enforce a flying tax on the world.

Instead it all went to hell in solar powered hand cart, as Green defeat followed Green defeat.

On January 1st 2012 the EU announced the start of its Green flying tax on all flights in and out of the EU, as global opposition to the Green tax mounted, Comrade Connie Hedegaard, the EU’s unelected Climate Commissar remained bullish and insisted that the world would bow down to her Green will.

Many nations including the US, China and India prohibited their airlines from taking part in the EU flying tax amid threats of a trade war, particularly from China. Finally in November Hedegaard and the EU backed down and suspended their Green flying tax for forever 12 months.

The Rio+20 Earth summit held the promise of the  chance to relive the glory days of warming alarmism: Read the rest of this entry

WOW! Sales Of Electric Cars In Britain Might Double In 2013

The Electric car in 1907 had a maximum range of 100 miles, in 2012 the maximum range of an electric car is 100 miles

The Electric car in 1907 had a maximum range of 100 miles, in 2012 the maximum range of an electric car is 100 miles

The Electric Car is yet another example of the absurd Green tokenism that will never work, an artificial market created by Governments, heavily dependent upon tax payer subsidy like all Green ideas, thus far  all attempts to create a global market for electric cars have failed.

Britain in common with many countries in the world, has more charging points than there are Electric Vehicles (EV) on the road, the few EVs sold in Britain in the last year have been sold to rich city dwellers who can afford the cost of an EV, normally around £30000. Anyone who buys an EV gets £5000 back in tax payer funded Green subsidy, which as the House of Commons Transport Select Committee has warned results in ordinary tax payers subsidising the rich, so they can be Green and fluffy.

Despite the problems of cost, range anxiety and the length of time it takes for a recharge, sales of EVs in Britain are expected to double in 2013, according to website nextgreencar.com: Read the rest of this entry

Wind Turbine Fail, Service Life Is Just 50% Of That Quoted By The Wind Industry

Latest peer reviewed study proves that the life of a bird chopper is 10 - 15 years not the 20 -25 years spun by the renewables industry and used by politicians.

Latest peer reviewed study proves that the life of a bird chopper is 10 – 15 years not the 20 -25 years spun by the renewables industry and used by politicians for planning.

The case against wind turbines was already proven, intermittency or the inability to provide and meet demand for electricity is bad enough, as is the problem for renewables that they need to have a fossil fuel or nuclear power station on standby because of the intermittency issue, now a peer reviewed study by the Renewable Energy foundation has disclosed another major failing of wind power, the turbines actual serviceable life in roughly half that of the life span quoted by the manufacturers.

The study was carried out by Professor Gordon Hughes of the University of Edinburgh, one of Britain’s leading energy and environmental economists, using years of data from wind farms in both Britain and Denmark.

The findings are yet another embarrassment for the whole Green renewable energy boondoggle and has serious financial implications for energy bill payers who are already propping up the renewables industry via the ever increasing Green subsidies on energy bills: Read the rest of this entry

EU Green Agenda Fail – Carbon Capture And Storage

A CO2 tanker truck at Schwarze Pumpe power plant near Sprengberg, Germany.

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is another Green technology that is being currently pushed very hard so we can all be saved from Anthropogenic Global Warming.

CCS like all the Green Dream technologies is very expensive, requires huge tax payer funded subsidies and is the usual mix of environmental tokenism and gesture politics that so typifies the Greens.

Britain’s last CCS project was cancelled in October 2011 after the companies involved Scottish Power, Shell and the National Grid, pulled out citing funding issues, in short they wanted more Green subsidies to make the project financially viable, the typical refrain for all things Green, more taxes and ever increasing energy bills.

Never one to let anything deflect her from her Green Agenda, the EU’s unelected Climate Commissar Connie Hedegaard and the other european Green fools held a contest to provide funding for CCS: Read the rest of this entry

David Cameron – “Britain Must Be At The Heart Of Shale Gas Revolution”

British Prime Minster David Cameron “We should take part in fracking because this might be a revolution and if we ignored it completely we could be giving our economy much higher energy prices than would otherwise be necessary.”

British Prime Minster David Cameron “We should take part in fracking because this might be a revolution and if we ignored it completely we could be giving our economy much higher energy prices than would otherwise be necessary.”

Finally David Cameron has broken his silence on Climate Change, after a chequered history involving bothering huskies and putting a bijou bird chopper on his roof, Dave has finally woken up to the economic political reality of the Green dream, it is totally unaffordable.

More importantly though, because Dave is a politician, high energy prices do not win votes or create jobs, which also win votes, once being Green was sort of a vote winner now as COP18 has demonstrated the whole AGW boondoggle is dead, and politicians have a severe aversion to hanging around dead political agendas.

The economic benefits of the shale gas revolution in the USA are well known, only in Europe have the Greens managed to delay fracking because it is not politically correct and approved Green tokenism: Read the rest of this entry

COP18 Postmortem – Green NGOs Despair

COP18 President Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah closes yet another failed UN Climate Conference

COP18 President Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah closes yet another failed UN Climate Conference

COP18 was even by the standards of the UNFCCC, a spectacular failure, the delegates left Doha without any of the major emitters making a new pledge to cut the CO2 emissions.

There never were high expectations of COP18 producing a new binding agreement, but those attending were expecting some progress.

Instead they got absolutely nothing, and now the Green warming alarmists are in despair, no matter how loud or often they cry “Wolf”, no one listens any more: Read the rest of this entry

The Re-elected Obama Fails His First Green Test

Barry Obama has signed a law that prohibits US airlines from taking part in the EU emissions trading scheme’s Green Flying Tax, which is a big disappointment to all those Greens naive enough to believe Obama would be the Great Green Messiah in his second term

The Greens and environmentalists were expecting great Green things from Obama in his second term, especially after he mentioned Climate Change in his victory speech.

The problem is there can often be a huge gap between expectations and actuality: Read the rest of this entry

Ed Miliband “I Like Wind Farms – Vote Labour”

Ed Miliband “Opposition to wind farms should become as socially unacceptable as failing to wear a seatbelt.”

From the outset Anthropogenic Global Warming was always an attractive political outlook for those on the left of the political spectrum, the anti capitalists, hippies, tree huggers, bunny botherers, politicians and the water walkers of the Green NGOs, in short AGW was always going to be big hit for those who go through life with a chest full of unexplored ideas as the core of their belief, or politically expedient,  belief system.

Prior to COP15 and Climategate there was no political doubt about Man Made Climate Change, however the timely release of emails from the Climate Research Unit (CRU) from the University of East Anglia (UEA) showed exactly what the so called climate scientists were up too, producing science to match a previously declared political intention called Agenda 21.

Since COP15 endled in failure the whole UN AGW boondoggle has continued to decline, the relentless failed predictions of environmental disaster and 16 years of no warming have continued to erode the political impetus that the Climate Change agenda once had.

As Climate Change has dropped off the mainstream global political agenda, so once again the left are donning their free trade sustainable ethically manufactured Green armour and getting back into the fear and doom scenarios so beloved by the Green environmental movement.

A case in point is the strange egg creature from Fraggle Rock Leader of Her Majesty’s opposition strange egg creature from Fraggle Rock that goes by the name of Ed Miliband: Read the rest of this entry
