The year is 2007 and the whole world is in the grip of global warming fear, the Anthropogenic Global Warming boondoggle has almost reached its high water mark and every slimy, self serving politician across the globe is scrambling to be Green.
What is perceived to be vote winning Green tokenism runs amok, so much so that in the UK opposition leader David Cameron has a small wind turbine installed on the side of his house so the whole world can be assured of his Green credentials. This was short lived display of Dave’s Green credentials as the builders put the turbine in the wrong place and breached the planning consent as Cameron’s home is in a conservation area, it is difficult not to laugh when a stunt blows up in a politicians face.
The problem faced by all those politicians that were conned by the junk science of the warming alarmists is how to distance themselves from something voters across the western world no longer buy in to, or even worry about anymore.
No politician is ever going to hold up their hand and say “I was wrong“, instead Green issues are quietly dropped from the Agenda and the heretical voices of the non believers in Climate Religion start to be heard.
In a major Cabinet reshuffle in preparation for the forthcoming General Election, Cameron has quietly culled the believers in Climate Religion from the Government, and as to be expected the UK Guardian is outraged: Read the rest of this entry
It is just one month into 2014 and the decline in the Anthropogenic Global Warming boondoggle within the European Union continues, this time with visible splits in the EU Commission on Energy.
European Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger has called the latest EU climate ambition for 2030 emissions targets “stupid or arrogant“, this is not the first time that Oettinger has broken ranks with the EU Green cabal. Last year Oettinger pointed out that there is no mileage in the leading the way with Green policies that kill jobs and make energy unaffordable, the rest of the world is not going to follow the EU’s lead and commit economic suicide.
The latest Green stupidity from the EU commission is to cut Greenhouse gas emissions 40% from 1990 levels by 2030, in plans announced last week. Read the rest of this entry
“If is the middle word in life” said Marlon Brando’s character Colonel Kilgore in the movie Apocalypse Now.
Generations of computer programmers know If is a conditional, as in the conditional If, used in many programming languages, only in warming alarmist world are conditionals an absolute, where if and could, are actually synonyms for will.
When you couple this skewing of language with vested interests reporting on vested interests, you end up with the a classic Green non story like “Value of coal assets ‘could be halved’ if world goes low-carbon“.
Conditionals are of course based upon probability, and obviously there is a chance that the entire world could decide to believe the Green meme, leave fossil fuel reserves in the ground and decide to follow a dimly lit future based upon intermittent Green approved energy generation.
The big question, is it likely? Read the rest of this entry
The UK Guardian has always pushed the Green meme about wind power being the cheapest form of energy in the long run, and what is more important it will allow Britain to meet the now conveniently forgotten carbon targets that once dominated the political landscape.
Us nasty climate change deniers have always maintained that wind power was no more than a heavily publicly subsidised monument to Green folly that provides very expensive intermittent energy supplies, creates no lasting real jobs and the production of wind turbines has created environmental catastrophes in countries like China.
With it being the Guardian a fair number of those that comment are outraged, in the way only a liberal mindset can be by the sheer heresy of the article and even more so that there is no mention anywhere of Climate Change, Global Warming or loss and damage. Read the rest of this entry
Politicians in the main are a pretty sickening breed, politicians of the socialist persuasion particularly so, when socialism and Green are mixed then be prepared for some truly sickening hypocrisy.
Take for example one Ed Miliband, leader of the British Labour Party and an ardent supporter of that global left wing cause célèbre the Green Agenda.
It is no secret that polling wise Ed Miliband is about as popular as a dead skunk in an elevator, so with the usual socialist shape shifting that Labour do so well, Ed Miliband is trying to buy votes by saying that a Labour government would freeze energy prices for 2 years if they were elected.
On the face of it, nothing wrong with that statement, were it not for the fact that Miliband had also committed Labour to the lunacy of 2030 decarbonisation targets, like they say dumb can be cured, stupid is forever. Read the rest of this entry
The rapid disintegration of the EU’s Climate Policy continues as the Czech Republic decides to abandon costly and unreliable renewable energy and double it’s use of coal, a policy that puts the country in direct confrontation with the EU.
In July the Czech Government approved a law to stop subsidies for new renewables projects at the end of 2013, it was known as far back as 2010 that the cost of Green subsidies was going to cause problems for the economy.
Now the Green Dream is virtually extinct in the Czech Republic, dying to the wail of the Green NGO’s and renewable energy boondogglers who as usual are threatening legal action to keep those Green taxpayer funded subsidies rolling in: Read the rest of this entry
Liberal stupidity knows no bounds, not because all Liberals are stupid by any means, but mainly because the Liberal mindset is incapable of thinking anything through beyond the initial knee jerk and feel good factor, “that reduces carbon, therefore it must be a good idea“. More often than not, the ill considered cure turns out to be far worse for all concerned, that the alleged problem it was supposed to fix.
The latest ill thought through Liberal idea concerns petrol and diesel cars which for personal transport use the Liberal Democrats want banned from Britain’s roads no later than 2040, despite the fact that there is little sign that viable and affordable electric cars and vans will be available by then.
At the beginning of the 20th Century there was a very real problem with horse emissions in London, there were so many horses and the were numbers increasing steadily so that by 1920 the alarmists were predicting that London would be knee-deep in horse turds, then the internal combustion engine became viable and horse numbers dropped rapidly and the problem cured itself, notably without any interference from politicians with a Green Liberal and Socialist agenda. The Green collapse continues as the Czech Republic becomes the latest in a long list of countries to cut back, or stop the Green subsidies that are the lifeblood for Green renewable energy.
As usual the overly generous subsidies for renewable energy are pushing the cost of electricity ever upwards, killing jobs and pushing families into energy poverty.
The Czechs were aware back in 2010 that a problem was looming with energy prices and that renewables were going to be the cause: Read the rest of this entry
